WHAT IS CHENILLE EMBROIDERY?

Chenille embroidery, colloquially known as "chenille" is a kind of specialized loop or chain embroidery, which is made with yarn, not typical embroidery threads -  polyester or viscose. Thanks to use of yarn instead of threads , this embroidery  method makes the pattern look optically thicker and more convex.

 TYPES OF CHENILLE EMBROIDERY

The chenille embroidery can be made in one of two forms, as:

loop

chain

The chenille embroidery in the form of loops is often called by customers “terry embroidery”, due to its specific structure, because the embroidery design looks like terry towel. It is possible to make a loop embroidery of various height, depending on the client's preferences. This type of embroidery is especially popular on children's clothing, youth and, what's interesting, also advertising clothing. Embroidery made with this method creates a convex impression, and in addition is soft in touch. The unique structure of  this embroidery makes  the design so original and often chosen by customers.

Chenille embroidery is also used in the form of chain embroidery. In this case, it is a flat embroidery, resembling a chain, which is similar to classic embroidery, but  is much thicker. Often in one pattern both types of chenille are used simultaneously, e.g. we embroider a letter filled with a loop, and its edge is finished with a chain. What is more, chenille embroidery can be joined with other embroidery techniques available in our offer, sequins, jets, pearls and prints.

CHENILLE EMBROIDERY - MATERIALS

Due to the characteristics of the chenille embroidery, which requires a high stability of the material at the time of embroidering, the chenille patterns are embroidered directly only on the elements of clothes ( e.g.  front of blouse or sleeve )and not on the finished products (ready to wear). If you would like to use the design  made with this method on finished products, we suggest embroidery in the form of a patch in a standard version -  for sewing, or in a version with a thermo-foil, which allows it to be fixed to garment using a thermal transfer press or iron.
